The Nuge for Obama’s Drug Czar!

Rockin' Ted Nugent wants to declare all-out war upon our neighbors to the South.
By Fred Mills
Just to make sure that the Monday morning news cycle remains lively, word arrives that the Motor City Madman - that's Ted Nugent to YOU, pal - is throwing his hat into the ring for consideration as America's Drug Czar for the new Obama administration. Last week at the conservative blog HumanEvents.com, in a self-penned article succinctly titled "Nugent for Drug Czar," the gonzo rocker and libertarian-tilting pundit (he regularly contributes to the blog) cites the "state of emergency" currently existing at the Arizona-Mexico border and the ongoing violence among the Mexican drug cartels as compelling reasons for President Obama needing to be "prepared to wage war... with more than just soaring rhetoric."
Ergo, the Nuge concludes, "We need a Drug Czar who will commit to the American people to stopping at least 50% of the illegal drugs flowing into the country within the first year of the Obama Administration. That's the kind of leadership America wants and deserves from its government."
You can read Nugent's entire editorial at the Human Events site. And yes, he does launch into some wonderfully overheated rhetoric linking pot-smoking (among other vices) to aiding and abetting terrorists:
"Call me, President Obama. Hippies, dope heads, corrupt politicos and various other human debris hate me, which makes me the perfect man for the job.As Drug Czar, I would charge our mayors and police departments to commit to fighting the drug gangs their top priority. Our inner cities will remain war zones until we commit to taking the trash out.
As America's Drug Czar, I would put a big hurt on the drug kingpins and consumers like they have never seen. Every American who smokes dope, manufactures, buys or sells meth or uses any illegal drugs is aiding and abetting the enemies of America. Case closed."
Ah. Well, "change" being what it is, this would certainly amount to a "change" in America's drug policy. And as we all know, the War On Drugs has been a massive failure to date. We're not completely sure, however, that a "change" in the direction of ramping up the drug war is what we need....
