More concert coverage from your friendly neighborhood BLURT - this time, we've got Todd Snider (plus opening act Mary Gauthier) in Covington, KY, and the twin-billed Centro-Matic/South San Gabriel in Chapel Hill.
- *Steven Rosen was on hand for traveling troubadour (and BLURT blogger) Todd Snider for a Nov. 21 show at Covington's Carnegie Performing Arts Center. "It occurred to this writer," noted Rosen, "that he had learned the lessons of the older Bob Dylan - the Dylan of the 1990s and this decade - better than just about any younger touring musician out there."
- *Then John Schacht caught the Will Johnson crew comprising the C-m and SSG bands at Local 506 in Chapel Hill on the previous evening, Nov. 20. Calling it "one of the best double bills you didn't even know you missed," Schacht noted that Johnson is "content for now to spin his emotions and vowels out into the timeless void in the hopes of making a connection. On this night, for the lucky few in this crowd, there can be no doubt of that."
